New Mexico Lawyer and Legal Educator Eric Dixon
Eric Dixon is an established trial lawyer in Portales, New Mexico. In addition to his extensive litigation experience, he has worked as a teacher of trial strategies and techniques. Early in his career, he served as a prosecutor in the 5th Judicial District Attorney’s Office, where he prosecuted numerous felonies in jury trials. He became an appointed Special Assistant United States Attorney in the State of New Mexico in 1985. In this position, Eric Dixon prosecuted a major narcotics seizure in Eddy County, a federal court case that resulted in the prosecution of a former state attorney general.
For more than four decades, Mr. Dixon has managed his solo practice in Portales. In this capacity, he has tried to verdict several record-setting cases in areas of employment discrimination and civil rights. He has balanced his duties as an attorney with his activities as an educator at numerous colleges and universities. He has taught business law, employment law, and criminal law courses, in addition to lecturing on the national circuit in connection with continuing legal education programs.
Mr. Dixon earned his law degree from St. Louis University. He studied history as an undergraduate at the University of Windsor. He earned several academic distinctions, including the President’s Medal and the Board of Governors Medal.
